2006 Grand Touring, marble white & tan, extra options
So I'm making moves towards selling my BELOVED NC mx-5... shopping for a detailer and driving it less. The car will be listed on ebay classified which I believe will also list it on cars.com. I want to raise some money for an addition we're doing on our house and I'm more into motorcycles now so the mx-5 has lost some of its fun for me. I may buy a second enduro motorcycle and a new work van with some of the proceeds. I can't believe this is happening... I'm hoping to use this as a blueprint for my ad so feel free to critique the ad itself along with the asking price (higher or lower???). Please be honest and tell me if I'm in the right ballpark.
Asking price: $12,667
Factory features: The GT 6 speed manual and canvas soft top. The suspension package w/ Bilstein shocks and limited slip. Premium package 2 which includes the bose stereo, HID headlights , and advanced key-less entry which works flawlessly (I'm gonna miss these features ), and the rear lip spoiler. The car comes with two of the credit card style key FOBs.
Condition: The car is in good shape. It sits under a car cover most of the time and never gets put away dirty. I only drive it on weekends since I have a dedicated work vehicle. I don't drive it in the snow (summer only tires) and in the winter when it's stored I drive it around town about once a month. When my town salts the roads this car hibernates under the cover with a solar panel keeping the battery fresh. It has ~8 chips on the body that are touched up with correct touch up paint. The leather and plastic is good to very good. This car has never failed an inspection or emissions test and only maintenance parts have been replaced - otherwise the car is factory original or comes with original parts (see below). The car looks and sounds incredible. Needless to say there is no rust, no accidents of any kind.
Maintenance performed: Mobil 1 engine oil 100% of the time. Brand name 91-93 octane gas 100% of the time - mostly Sunoco, Exxon, & Gulf, some Valero when going to Delaware beaches. Transmission oil was changed to the correct spec Motorcraft oil shortly after purchase in 2010 (still have the remainder in the shed) along with the differential oil which is Mobil 1. Records indicate a new Bosch battery in 2010. New tires at 61,594 miles in 3/2014 , they are BfGoodrich g-Force on factory wheels, ultra high performance summer tires. All brake pads and rotors were replaced at 63,346 mi in 8/2014. The interior/exterior plastic and weather stripping were regularly treated with 303 aerospace protectant. The leather gets treated with Leatherique "prestine clean" and "rejuvinator oil" twice a year. Paint gets waxed with Gold Class.
Documentation: Every single inspection and emissions receipt since my 2010 purchase including a couple of oil changes I was too busy to do myself. Photos of the odometer at every oil change since I've had the car. Most of the receipts for the oil purchased. Documents from my purchase at a North Carolina dealership. Clear title in hand. Owners manual.
Modifications: A white round shift knob and rubber backed coco matts in #91 Jaspe. The original mats and shift knob are included and will be pictured for the sale. The signal lights were all replaced with LEDs in the factory locations with no wiring modifications anywhere on the car. The leading edges of the honeycombs on the factory grill are painted silver - this is also reversible. The car comes with a Covercraft "Noah" custom fitted car cover.
Miles: 66,750. I'm the second owner, bought it with 38,140 in 2010. Most of the 30k or so miles I've put on this car were highway miles. Believe it or not this is my main vehicle for long trips. My first car was a NA miata so this trunk is huge by comparison. Records indicate the car was shipped to and driven 10-12k mi per year in North Carolina, owned by a private party.
Negatives: It's an early '06 so it's susceptible to a check engine light if you don't put the gas cap on correctly. This happened twice, verified the code w/ a code reader I keep in the trunk. There's some curb rash on the wheels, most of it from the previous owner - I'm calling the wheels average condition due to cosmetics. Passenger side door has a slight plastic rattle that appeared in March and went away in June. I can't guarantee that it won't come back.
I don't have any current pictures but here are a few older ones... planning to do a photo shoot after the detailing. I will include pics of the undercarriage, and the floor mats & knob that were removed. The last picture of the Mercedes interior is just to show you the floor mats so use your imagination to photoshop them into place for now!
