The Purdue football team will look to keep the Cannon Trophy during Homecoming today in a matchup with Illinois at Ross-Ade Stadium.
Purdue is coming off a 38-17 loss to Wisconsin and sits at 1-3 (0-1 Big Ten) on the season. Illinois is 2-2 (0-1) in 2023.

Ryan Walters gets a win against his former team. On top of that, Walters gets his first win at home as head coach of Purdue.
Hudson Card threw 2 touchdowns and completed 18 of 26 passes for 217 yards. Tyrone Tracy Jr. ran for 112 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown. Deion Burks caught 5 passes for 83 yards and a score.
On defense, Sanoussi Kane led the way with 9 total tackles. Yanni Karlaftis was second on the team with 8.

Purdue is really distancing itself from Illinois this quarter. After the Boilermaker defense stopped Illinois on downs, Purdue scored again with a Hudson Card to Deion Burks touchdown play for 10 yards.

The Boilermakers took over at their own 33-yard line but they moved the ball quickly on this drive. A face mask penalty on 1st and 10 moved the ball to midfield, and then Hudson Card threw a pass to Deion Burks, who made a heck of a catch to give Purdue the ball at the 6-yard line. Burks catch was for 44 yards.
Devin Mockobee punched in a 3-yard run to extend Purdue's lead.

Purdue took the ball 75 yards on 10 plays that lasted 5:01. The drive ended with a 28-yard touchdown pass from Hudson Card to Garrett Miller.

The scoring drive was set up by a Devin Mockobee fumble on the previous possession.
