WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue will be well represented by Boilermakers of all ages at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials as 3-meter and 10-meter are the events in the spotlight at the Olympic qualifier.

Active student-athletes Holden Higbie, Sophie McAfee, Max Miller, Jordan Rzepka and Daryn Wright join alumni Greg Duncan and Brandon Loschiavo plus incoming freshmen Kaden Springfield, Zach Welsh, Tyler Wills and Avery Worobel to give the Boilermakers 11 entries. All will be aiming to emerge as the best of the United States' best, joining Purdue teammate Maycey Vieta (10-meter for Puerto Rico) as Olympians this year.

The University of Tennessee's Allan Jones Aquatic Center is serving as the host site of the Olympic Trials this year, marking only the fourth time since 1984 the Olympic qualifier is not being held in Indianapolis. It was also held elsewhere than Indy in 2000, 2004 and 2012. The aquatic center in Knoxville also hosted the 2023 Women's NCAA Championships, at which McAfee and Wright both competed.

PURDUE QUALIFIERS – U.S. OLYMPIC TEAM TRIALS
Greg Duncan (Alum) – 3-Meter, 3-Meter Synchro (with Tyler Downs)
Holden Higbie – 3-Meter
Brandon Loschiavo (Alum) – 10-Meter
Sophie McAfee – 10-Meter
Max Miller – 3-Meter, 3-Meter Synchro (with Luke Sitz)
Jordan Rzepka – 10-Meter
Daryn Wright – 10-Meter

Incoming Boilermakers
Kaden Springfield – 10-Meter
Zach Welsh – 3-Meter, 3-Meter Synchro (with Jacob Welsh)
Tyler Wills – 10-Meter
Avery Worobel – 3-Meter

Scoring is cumulative throughout the week as the top 18 in the preliminaries advance to semifinals and the top 12 go on to finals (in the individual events). The top two finishers in the individual events at trials generally qualify for the Olympic team, but this year it is thought to be just the champion in both 10-meter events. The top-scoring team in the synchro events also become Olympians.

Vieta qualified for the Olympics when she finished ninth for Puerto Rico in the 10-meter prelim at the World Aquatics Championships in February. Later that week in Qatar, Olympian Brandon Loschiavo earned the U.S. an Olympic quota bid on 10-meter when he finished eighth as a finalist at Worlds. This week, Loschiavo looks to repeat as champion at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials after winning on the tower in 2021, becoming a two-time Olympian in the process.

Duncan, Rzepka, Wright and Wills have also competed for the U.S. at the World Aquatics Championships during their careers. Meanwhile, McAfee medaled for the USA on 10-meter at the 2023 World University Games in China.

Unfortunately, the U.S. did not qualify for the Olympic Games in 10-meter synchro this year, with only seven berths available (host France plus the top three from Worlds in 2023 and top four from Worlds in 2024). Purdue will be represented in men's 3-meter synchro this week.

The Olympic Team Trials will mark the final meet in which Adam Soldati will be on deck actively coaching the Boilermakers. He and Olympic champion David Boudia have prepared the Boilermakers for the Olympic Trials and Boudia takes the torch as head coach this month. Soldati's focus moving forward will be his health and family while combating an amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) diagnosis that was made public last month.
