Submit your completed Summer 2024 Financial Aid Form by the above-mentioned dates to ensure that you will receive your summer financial aid eligibility notification by the payment deadline. All forms received after the appropriate date will still be accepted and reviewed, but financial aid may not be in place before payment is due. As a reminder, all students are responsible for payment of tuition and fees by the Summer Term deadlines based on their UNLV summer sessions, even if a summer financial aid form has not been processed.

Students must meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy to receive federal financial aid for the summer term. If a student has not been meeting UNLV’s SAP policy (e.g. SAP status is in “Warning," "Probation, or “Not Meeting"), or the student is approaching or has exceeded the maximum number of attempted credits (e.g. SAP status is on “Alert”) during the spring 2024 semester, final grades for spring 2024 must be posted before financial aid eligibility can be determined for the summer 2024 term. In addition, federal aid eligibility in summer may be limited based on aid received in the preceding fall and spring terms.

Enrollment Impacts On Your Summer Financial Aid

If your summer term enrollment changes from what you listed initially on the summer aid form, an adjustment of your financial aid package and student account charges may be necessary. If you make changes to your enrollment, please complete a new Summer Aid Form and submit the form in the Rebel Success Hub.

Pell Grant

The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships will review and determine Pell Grant eligibility for the summer term. Pell Grant funding for the summer 2024 term is based on several factors including a student’s Expected Family Contribution (EFC) as determined by completing the 2023-2024 FAFSA. Additional factors that affect Pell Grant eligibility may include:

  • The number of credits a student enrolls in
  • Pell Grant Lifetime Eligibility Used (funding cannot exceed 600% or six-year full-time equivalent of Pell)
  • A student’s SAP status

Not sure if you are eligible for Pell Grant funding during the summer term?

Determining Pell Grant eligibility can be complex. Because our office determines summer financial aid eligibility manually, students should submit the Summer 2024 Financial Aid Form so eligibility can be determined. Please note, some students may be required to enroll at least half-time (at least six undergraduate credits) during the summer term who were full-time during the preceding fall and spring semesters for year-round Pell eligibility.

Federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans

Federal regulations limit the amount of subsidized and unsubsidized Federal Direct Loans a student may receive in an academic year (fall-spring-summer). Borrowing in fall and spring can therefore impact your ability to receive loans in summer. Visit the Federal Student Aid (FSA) - Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans to learn more about annual loan limits.

For example:

  • An undergraduate student is a senior and received a $5,500 federal subsidized loan and a $7,000 federal unsubsidized loan for the school year. $2,750 of the subsidized loan and $3,500 of the unsubsidized loan were disbursed to the student in the fall semester, and $2,750 of the subsidized loan and $3,500 of the unsubsidized loan were disbursed to the student in the spring semester.
  • In this example, the annual loan limits are $5,500 in a subsidized loan and $7,000 in an unsubsidized loan. Because the student used their full annual limits for the fall and spring semesters, there is no remaining federal loan eligibility for the summer term.

If a student has not used all of their Federal Direct Loan eligibility during the fall and spring semesters in the same academic year, they must be enrolled at least half-time (at least 6 credit hours for undergraduate students, at least 5 credit hours for graduate or professional students, and 4 credit hours for law students) in the summer term to be eligible for federal loans.

Federal Direct PLUS Loans

For the Summer 2024 term, if a parent of a dependent student or graduate or professional student is interested in receiving a Direct PLUS Loan, they can apply online using the summer term dates of May 2024 – August 2024 on the PLUS application.

Please ensure that you complete the Master Promissory Note, Loan Entrance Counseling, and/or an Endorser Addendum (as appropriate) for your Direct PLUS Loan application and credit check. The Direct PLUS Loan is subject to the same priority deadlines as the 2024 Summer Financial Aid Form. To be considered for the PLUS loan, all students must complete the FAFSA form for the appropriate academic year.

Private Loans

If you have been approved for a private loan for the summer 2024 term, complete the 2024 Summer Non-Federal Private Loan Form. The form can be found on the page under the Summer Term Forms section. Complete this form in its entirety and submit the form through the Rebel Success Hub by the date listed above that matches your earliest session of enrollment. The 2024 Summer Non-Federal Private Loan Form is subject to the same priority deadlines as the 2024 Summer Form for financial aid.

Millennium Scholarship

If you're eligible for the Governor Guinn Millennium Scholarship (GGMS) Program during the summer term, the Nevada Treasurer's Office will not credit your summer Millennium Scholarship to your MyUNLV account until the fall semester (usually at the end of October), in accordance with program scholarship rules. Any Millennium Scholarship funding for summer functions as a reimbursem*nt for students. This means students are responsible for paying the tuition and fees listed on their student account by the tuition and fees payment deadline for the appropriate summer session.
