With Dragon Age: The Veilguard releasing this fall, replaying Dragon Age: Inquisition has quickly become a priority for fans hoping to experience the latest chapter in BioWare's epic fantasy saga. Mods can be used to make tweaks, boost immersion, and streamline the experience of replaying this decade-old game.

In contrast to modding Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2, which both have mods that require custom install processes, Dragon Age: Inquisition uses two main mod managers: DAI Mod Manager and Frosty Mod Manager. However, most mods installed with DAI Mod Manager should still work if dragged and dropped into Frosty. As such, Frosty will be the mod manager of choice for most players.

The Inquisitor and their party will need to defeat hundreds of enemies across a single playthrough, many of whom will drop useful items and gold. As such, any tweak that makes looting faster and more streamlined will be welcome.

6 MoreLoot - Remade

Modder Aintiarna's MoreLoot - Remade mod allows players to tweak Dragon Age: Inquisition's loot tables to increase the drop rate of gear and gold. According to the modder, the game features over 400 different loot "tables", and this mod allows players to tweak and configure roughly 200 of them in order to control loot and its distribution.

Unlike many mods, MoreLoot is configurable and has four different default settings for players to choose from, ranging from slight increases to avoid breaking immersion to more extreme settings tweaks where gold and gear drops are incredibly common. Players can even choose a special Crafting preset where gold and loot drop rates only receive a slight increase, but crafting materials drop much more often.

MoreLoot also allows players to configure and customize other aspects of loot drops. This includes altering drop probability, so enemies are more likely to drop loot on death, and gold probability and quality, so containers are more likely to contain large amounts of Gold. More technically-minded players are likely to get more out of this mod, as it does require some tweaking and configuring.

Throughout the game, players will gain Influence, allowing them to unlock new Inquisition Perks. Perks are a diverse set of 34 different passive bonuses, ranging from XP increases from killing foes to masterwork lockpicking abilities, new gear schematics for crafting, and more. Most are useful in some way, but Influence Level is capped at 20, forcing players to choose their perks carefully.

Ghostifish's More Inquisition Levels mod removes the Level 20 cap, allowing players to reach higher Levels and unlock more Perk points. However, after character creation, the Inquisitor enters the game's opening segments wearing the same green coat, regardless of background.

Modder Aintiarna's Immersive Starting Armors mod tweaks that by allowing players to replace the coat with more immersive options that much more closely resemble the Inquisitor's background; for example, elf characters can be given Dalish robes and armor while humans can dress as adventurers or soldiers.

Immersive Starting Armors also features additional options that encourage additional roleplaying. Grey Warden outfits are available, alongside armor sets for Templars, Reaver Warriors and even some options taken from characters in Dragon Age: Inquisition's multiplayer mode. This is a particularly good mod for the purposes of immersion, and the modder even notes that players can either replace the starting armor after the game's opening, or leave it installed.

Modder jerrybullet's More Banter mod has been a favorite of the Dragon Age: Inquisition mod scene for years, due to the tweaks it makes to party banter.

According to the modder, party banter can randomly trigger every 10 to 20 minutes, but isn't guaranteed. This locks players out from listening to their favorite Dragon Age: Inquisition companions chatting about events in the game or even revealing interesting insights into their personalities and personal histories. The More Banter mod fixes that by forcing snippets of party banter to play every 15 minutes, allowing players to listen in on their party.

With a total of nine companions, players will find that their party has plenty to talk about. It's a good idea to change the party lineup in order to hear more.

However, most War Table operations take time, and players will need to wait between a few real-world minutes and an entire day for them to complete.

This is one of the best quality-of-life tweaks available, as players receive rewards from the War Table without needing to wait in real time for results. Operations can be resolved quickly, allowing the Inquisitor and their party to continue exploring with all of the benefits that come from leveraging the Inquisition's power, including increased Influence, unlocked Perks, and new gear items.

Overall, Dragon Age: Inquisition is a great RPG even without mods. However, with a few of the best mods, players can drastically improve the experience with more immersion, vital quality-of-life tweaks, and more.
